Day 1: Transfer to Budongo Forest Reserve with and En Route Rhino Trekking
This 2 day trip from Kampala begin with a pickup by the driver guide to start the journey two of Uganda’s tourist attractions which are homes to rhinos and chimpanzees. You will exit Kampala taking Bombo road which also extends as far as Gulu and Arua. Along the way in Nakasongola district, turn off to go to Ziwa Rhino Ranch where the waiting rangers will take you through the briefing before starting the excursion into the wild.
At the moment, the sanctuary is a habitat to 22 southern white rhinos whose presence has made the tourist attraction loved by visitors. Tourists to the site visit for mainly Rhino Trekking which is the major activity. Other things to do at the sanctuary include shoebill Trekking, Bird Watching, Night walks plus nature walk and relaxation. With a day trip from Kampala, visitors can also do a 1 day rhino trekking at the Ziwa Ranch. After visiting rhinos in Uganda, you will proceed to Masindi town where you will have lunch and refreshments followed by continuation to the Budongo forest. You will arrive in early evening hours and stay overnight at Budongo Eco Lodge on full board basis.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Budongo Forest, drive back to Kampala
Chimpanzee Trekking in Budongo Forest is best done in the early hours of the day starting at 7.00 am. Before the excursion into the jungle, the guide offers to visitors a briefing on chimpanzee trekking rules and regulations in which he outlines for them the safety measures and standards. The guides in front of the visitors follow the daily movements of the habituated chimps. After trekking the chimps, return to the lodge for lunch and then starting driving back to Kampala city where you will arrive in the evening, marking the end of the rhino and chimp tracking tour in Uganda.
