3 Days Nyiragongo Volcano Hike in Congo

Day 1: Drive from Kigali to Goma. Optional boat cruise on Lake Kivu – Gisenyi .

After you morning breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you will meet the guide/driver who is to transfer you to Gisenyi the biggest town near Lake Kivu. You will a wonderful boat cruise at the lake which will offer you with magnificent views of the surrounding islands on the lake, the nice looking beach where one can chill out and relax from ,the endless water views and many more others. You will have lunch at any of the hotel on Lake Kivu and later cross the border to DRC Congo in Gome region that is found in the north of Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight stay at; Hotel cape Kivu (budget), Bukima Tented Camp (mid-range), Mikeno lodge (luxury).

Day 2: Carry out an exploration hike to Nyiragongo Volcano

After your early morning breakfast, you will start you’re t one day long hike to the one of the few outstanding active and powerful volcanoes on African continent containing the most fluid and expanse lava lake on global scale.  When you are at east of Democratic Republic of Congo 19 km from the town of Goma, Nyiragongo Volcano is well-known to be the world’s most active Volcano and it has on two successive times in 1997 and the year 2002 when it released a high speed lava liquid from the Volcanic cracks destroying half of Goma town killing a number of people together with their property. The climb is very worthwhile adventure which takes about 4 to 6 hours and start at 1989 m height climbing to 3470 m in a short period. The overnight is spent at the crater border the place that offers the best views of the lava lake occur at night. Dinner and overnight stay at Mountain camps.

 Day 3: Slope back from Nyiragongo and return to Kigali

After your breakfast, start slopping back to the starting point after which after you will set off for Kigali via Gisenyi. Arrive in the evening. End of the Nyiragongo Volcano Hike in Congo
