Improve Hotel Services – Minister Kamuntu

Tourism minister calls upon Ugandans to improve Hotel Services to Boost Tourism.

Ephraim Kamuntu who is the Tourism Minister asked hotel owners and their managers to improve on their services that are being offered to clients so that it can boost tourism industry.

Talking at festivities to mark 50 years anniversary of Sheraton Kampala Hotel yesterday, Mr. Kamuntu cautioned that if the hospitality industry is not boosted, it will poorly impact the development and growth of tourism business.

“Government is taking a gander at tourism as a genuine business and a change specialist. Since accommodation facilities are critical to our travelers, they ought to be enhanced up to international standard level so that we can draw in more visitors into the nation,” he said.

Mr. Ephraim was hopeful that improved hotel services would likewise help the nation earn more foreign exchange which will lead to increased country’s total Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

According to the East African measures for evaluating and grouping of accommodation offices, 4 per cent of the total facilities are already qualified for grading.

“Given sensitization which is a prerequisite before evaluating, 62 percent of hotel facilities would have the capacity to satisfy the necessities subsequently fit the bill for grading,” says Mr. Ephraim.

The 50 years’ festivals, to be delegated in August, will see the inn accumulate people groups’ recollections, do general redesigns of the hotels, innovative establishments, re-opening of club venture among different exercises which administrators said will help the inn to contend at the international  level.
