Full Lake Mburo Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Drive Lake Mburo National Park, do a Boat Ride
Get a morning breakfast and start your trip to Lake Mburo National Park, going through Mpigi and Masaka and Lyantonde district. Make a stop at the Uganda Equator where the northern separates from the southern hemisphere. Afterwards advance to the park.
Lake Mburo, one of the tourist places in western Uganda is is one of the smallest Savannah parks with plenty of antelopes including the impala from which the name Kampala City was derived. Arrive in the afternoon, have lunch and immediately head for a boat cruise on the lake. This ride will reward you with view of animals and birds along shores. There are numerous tourist activities in Lake Mburo which visitor can do given available time. Dinner and overnight at Mburo Safari Lodge or Rwakobo Rock Hotel on full board.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive, transfer to Bwindi National Park
Go for a morning game drive in Lake Mburo for about 2-3 hours. A game drive safari in this park will offer you chances of seeing zebras, antelopes, impala, topi, eland, bush buck, buffalo, warthog, leopard, hyena and jackals among others. After game safari, return to the lodge for breakfast before driving off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will arrive at the park in the evening. Bwindi is mostly known for its plenty of mountain gorillas besides being a home for other mammals plus several bird species. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Bandas or Gorilla Safari Lodge.
Day 3: Do Gorilla Trekking Safari in Bwindi Forest
This is the day for the gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest. Enjoy breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing before setting off to the forest for a thrilling gorilla tracking. After an 8:00 am briefing from the park officials, you will walk into the forest to track these giant apes. The time you take trekking these primates vary from 2 to 9 hours depending on their movements. The gorilla safari entails going through steep rocks climbing up and down, however the thrill of meeting the gorillas makes you forget the hardships of trying to find them. Dinner and over night at Gorilla Resort / Buhoma homestead.
Day 4: Drive to Kampala
In the morning, take breakfast and start a long-day drive to Kampala. Arrive in the evening. End of the tour.
