Ziwa Rhino Trekking and Gorilla Trip to Bwindi Forest
This rhino tour and gorilla safari involves Rhino Trekking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and a Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Ziwa Rhino Ranch is the only place in Uganda where these members of the Big Five animals are found in the wild. From the rhino adventure, you will return to Kampala for overnight and then start a gorilla trip to Bwindi forest the next day.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, do the trekking and return to Kampala for overnight.
The driver guide will pick you up in the morning from Kampala and drive northwards to Ziwa Rhino Ranch in Uganda in Nakasongola district off Kampala-Gulu highway. This is the only tourist destination where rhino trekking is done in Uganda. The journey to reach this wonderful attraction takes about 2 hours or slightly less.
On arrival, you will have the briefing about the whole trekking excursion before commencing the rhino adventure in the bushes. You will enter the zone of Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary walking in the green vegetation in search of rhinos. Well qualified and knowledgeable guides will guide you all through the thickets in search of the rhinos. Your day’s guide will have to ensure that you are safe from any form of harm. So taking his safety rules is very vital for a wonderful delight.
You will have the chance to see the endangered rhinos in their natural zone. Since the rhinos move spontaneously around the 7,000 hectare ranch, it is better to take a bush stride where they are. Visiting the rhinos in Uganda is a lifetime opportunity that travelers should not miss. After this pleasing activity, you will go back to the center, take lunch as well as refreshments before driving back to Kampala where you will arrive in the evening. Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
In the morning, the driver guide will pick you from your accommodation in Kampala to commence your safari to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in south western Uganda. Bwindi is one of the best and most visited tourist attractions in western Uganda, with gorilla safaris being the major activities. You will drive towards South Western Uganda going through Mpigi but don’t miss to stop at the Uganda Equator for photo-shoots. Uganda Equator is an imagined point where the Northern Hemisphere splits from the Southern Hemisphere, and it’s a tourist spot for photo taking and handicraft shopping. There are also diverse souvenir shops at the Equator where you can buy souvenirs. Continue with the trip and have lunch in Mbarara town (50 minutes lunch break). After the dine, you will proceed with the expedition as you admire the attractive gardens, farms and hills along the way. You will arrive at the park in the evening. Check in your accommodation for an overnight rest awaiting the next day’s amazing Gorilla Trekking in Ruhija Sector of Bwindi. Overnight stay at Gorilla Mist Camp or Bakiga Lodge on full board.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
Get breakfast and be escorted to the park offices to begin your gorilla trekking adventure. Coming face to face with the mountain gorillas is one of the most electrifying experiences you can ever have. You will have a chance to observe and take pictures and you will enjoy them from a close range observing adults feeding, groaning and resting as the youngsters play and move backward and forward in a pleasantly comical demonstration. After trekking, return to the lodge for a delicious lunch and a restful-evening. Stay overnight at Gorilla Mist Camp or Bakiga Lodge on full board.
Day 4: Drive Back to Kampala
Begin the day with breakfast and leave for Kampala. Lunch en route in Mbarara Town from where you will ensue to Kampala where you will arrive in the evening. The driver will drop you to your preferred place. End of the Rhino Tour and Gorilla Safari in Uganda.
