7 Days Canopy Walk Rwanda and Chimpanzee Trekking in Rwanda

Full Rwanda Safari Itinerary 

Day 1:  Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National park.

Enjoy your breakfast and transfer to south western Rwanda to Nyungwe Forest national park. Enroute visit in Butare town to tour Rwanda Ethnographic National Museum, Nyanza palace plus Murambi genocide memorial museum. Continue to the forest, upon reaching there, check to your preferred accommodation and spent the rest of hours relaxing at the lodge/hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (luxury), Nyungwe Top View Lodge (luxury) and Gisakura Guest House (mid-range).

Day 2: Chimp  and Colobus Monkey Trekking

Have breakfast and go into Nyungwe forest in search for 13 primate’s species and over 300 bird species, making it a bird watcher’s heaven. Nyungwe Forest is one of the places in the world where you can see up to 13 primates’ species; these include chimpanzees, the Blue Monkeys, L’Hoest’s Monkeys, endangered golden monkeys and the Angolan black and white Colobus Monkeys among others. Nyungwe forest has vast population of habituated primates whose flocks can include 400 to 500 folks. This is a exclusive tourism sensation. Drive back to your lodge for lunch and relax at the lodge, relax after lunch or you mat decided to  go for colobus monkey tracking or canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House / Nyungwe Hill top View Hotel / Nyungwe Forest Lodge.

Day 3: Rwanda Canopy Walk and Nature Tours in Nyungwe Forest 

After the morning breakfast, you will get into to the forest for the

Nyungwe canopy walk. This amazing activity as it involves walking on suspended loops hanged in the air, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the forest and birds as hear them making their romantic sounds. This will provide with a wide view all over the Nyungwe national park. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe forest lodge (luxury), Nyungwe top view lodge (luxury) and Gisakura guest house (mid-range).

Day 4: Drive to Lake Kivu 

After your breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Kivu as you appreciate the breathtaking scenery of the Virunga Mountains plus the green vegetation covering a very big area. You will stop over for lunch and continue for an evening boat cruise after checking in to the hotel. Dinner an overnight stay at. Lake Kivu Serena (luxury), Paradise Marahide (mid-range), palm resort hotel (budget).

Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park for Golden Monkey Tracking

Enjoy your breakfast and transfer to the Parc Nationale des Volcans a home of over 360 mountain gorillas in Rwanda. Upon reaching there, you will set off foe briefing about the golden monkey trekking. These monkeys are among the endangered primates in the park. After the trekking, get back to the lodge for lunch and later proceed to Ibyiwacu cultural village to enjoy the cultural and traditional practices of Rwanda. Dinner and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (luxury), Le Bambou Lodge (mid-range), Muhabura Hotel (budget).

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda

After your morning breakfast, you will assemble at the park headquarter a long side with your tracking gears ,drinking water and packed lunch for a short briefing by the park warden about gorilla tracking. The guide will lead you to the gorilla tracking point trail and start searching the endangered primates in the forest. Trekking gorillas may take between 1 to 8 hours depending on the location and movement of these apes in their natural world. Upon seeing the gorillas all the fatigue will be released and you are allowed to spend 1 hour as you watch them at close range. You can take pictures, witness them as they play and make loud calls, this is one of the most interesting activity that you will make your trip a cheerful one. After the trekking, you will get back to the lodge for late lunch and later drive to visit Musanze cave from where you will spend the evening. Get back to lodge. Day 7: Transfer to Kigali, City Tour and departure.
Have your breakfast and return back to Kigali getting early for a for a city tour in Kigali where you will stopover Nyamata church,  Genocide Museum art and craft shops and local markets where you can do last minute shopping. You will continue to the airport to be in time for your scheduled flight.
