Full Safari Itinerary for Primates Tracking and Wildlife Safaris
Day 1: Transfer to Kampala.
Your assigned driver guide will pick you up from the Airport and transfer you to Kampala. Out of your will, you can have a Kampala City Tour basing upon the time of arrival in Uganda. Overnight and dinner at Serena Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, Hotel Africana or Protea Hotel
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park.
After breakfast, start your journey to Kibale National Park with a stopover for lunch in Fort Portal town. Kibale National Park has a population of more than a 1000 Chimpanzees, about 340 species of Birds, 27 species of Frogs and toads and 14 species of snakes. Arrive in the afternoon with Dinner and Overnight at Kyaninga Lodge, Ndali Lodge (high end), Fort Motel (medium ) or Rwenzori View Guest House (budget).
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest and afternoon Nature Walk in Bigodi Swamp.
Transfer to Kibale National Park after breakfast for chimpanzee tracking safari. At this time, you will be holding your chimp trekking permit booked earlier. The Park Ranger give a morning briefing and then after a network of shady forest trails in search of the Chimps starts. Other primates including l’hoestes, red colobus, blue-red tailed and gray cheeked mangabey may be seen.
Detailed information on primates, forest, flora and fauna will be given by the Park Ranger. After seeing the Chimpanzees, lunch follows at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will visit Bigodi swamp for nature walk, bird watching and primate viewing. Be eager to see primates like the black and white Colobus monkey, Red-tailed monkey, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys among others or returning to the lodge. Dinner and overnight like at Day 2.
Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoy an evening Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel.
After breakfast, check our and leave for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive late morning and check in followed by a brief rest. After lunch, your will drive to Mweya Peninsula from where you will undertake a smooth boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. Your will spot lots of birds and animals like buffaloes, hippos, elephants and antelopes on the shorelines taking water. After this amazing 2-hours voyage, return to the lodge for diner and overnight. Accommodation at Mweya Safari Lodge, Enganzi Lodge, Katara Lodge or Kyambura Game Lodge (Full Board).
Day 5: Take a Morning Game drive followed by a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Enjoy a morning Game drive, followed by breakfast and then departure to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is a home for Mountain Gorillas plus a variety of primates and bird species. Over 90 mammal species and 11 different species of primates have been recorded at the park. You will drive through Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. By chance, you may see some tree climbing lions. Lunch stop over at any lodge en route. You will trek gorillas the next day in Buhoma sector found in the north of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Buhoma area is nearer to Queen Elizabeth National Park than any of the gorilla trekking regions of Bwindi. Have Dinner and Overnight at Silverback Lodge, Mahogany Springs, Buhoma Lodge or Buhoma Bandas, all on full board.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking Safari Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Get breakfast in the morning and assemble for a thorough briefing about gorilla trekking at the park offices by the Rangers. After briefing on the gorilla trekking rules and regulations, the Park guides and Rangers will lead you into the impenetrable rainforest. They will also give a comprehensive information about the area Flora and Fauna as you hike into the jungle. Feel free to ask questions as you wish. On meeting the gorillas, looking deep into their brown eyes will be surely the most amazing wildlife encounters of your life. Spend an hour with the Gorillas before having a packed lunch and then return to the lodge. Gorilla tracking is a wonderful, enticing, inspiring and memorable life adventure that one must enjoy at at least once in a lifetime. Dinner and Overnight at the lodge.
Day 7: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, drive back to Kampala with a stopover for lunch en-route at Mbarara town. On the way you stop at the Uganda Equator to buy some souvenir items for a memorable safari. Arrive in Kampala late evening.
