Day 1: Travel to Murchison Falls, enjoy a Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking Safari in Budongo Forest

chimp trekking in budongo forestTo begin your safari for Chimp Trekking in Budongo Forest, you will be picked up early morning from Kampala by our driver guide. Drive straight away to Budongo Forest Where you will arrive early afternoon. After lunch at Budongo Eco Lodge, you will go a chimpanzee trekking safari in the jungle. Budongo forest is one of the areas in Uganda with a high number of chimps and so their visibility by tourists is quite amazing. After chimpanzee tracking safari, you will retire to Budongo Eco Lodge for dinner and overnight.

The Top of the Falls Murchison Falls is an incredible scene indeed because it’s where the Nile, Africa’s the longest river goes through a narrow crevice in the rock (only 7 meters wide), before violently dipping down 43 meters. Murchison Falls Park is a habitat to a large number of African wild animals including Water buffalo, elephant, Crocodile, Lion, Leopard, Hippopotamus, Antelope, Giraffes, Uganda Kob, Oribi and other animals. The Nile River, within the park, is a home to a variety of water birds, including the uncommon Shoebill stork.

Day 2: Early morning Game drive and an afternoon Boat Cruise

Wake up early for anything to warm your stomachs and go for an early morning game drive to hook up with the early rising animals. This exhilarating game drive will facilitate you to spot animals including oribi, bush bucks, jackals, hartebeests, bohor reed bucks, hyenas, giraffes, lions, leopards, antelopes, elephants and the Uganda kob to mention. After a game drive, you will check it to another lodge and settle for any anything to eat plus lunch later on at the lodge.

In afternoon after lunch, you will then go for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. It is here that animals including buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos, elephants plus lots of water birds in the likes of fish eagles, herons, bee-eaters, cormorants, kingfishers, ducks, skimmers, the rare shoe-bill and more species are spotted from a calm sailing boat. After this voyage cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Paraa Lodge, Pakuba Safari Lodge or Sambiya River Lodge.

Day 3: Drive to the Top of the Falls, proceed to Kampala 

After breakfast, check out of the lodge for Kampala but first drive to the fascinating Top of the Falls. This Top of the Falls is an unbelievable sight as it is where River Nile, Africa’s the longest river goes through a slim gap in the rock (7 meters wide-ranging), before hostilely tumbling 43 meters down. It’s such a breathtaking sighting for an unforgettable safari. Photo and video opportunities at these falls are just numerous. After an hour or so at this point, proceed to Kampala with lunch enroute in Masindi. Arrive in Kampala in the evening and the driver will ensure that you are safely dropped at your desired point.

Chimpanzee Places in Uganda

Apart from Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo Forest reserve, one visiting Uganda can trek similar primates in Kibale National Park, Kyambura gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda.
