Chimpanzee Tracking Safari in Kibale National Park, Uganda Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park

A 5 Days Uganda Safari consists of chimp trekking in Kibale Forest, Nature Walks plus game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park accompanied with a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. This channel connect Lake Edward o lake George. Kibale is the park with the highest numbers of chimpanzees in Uganda.

THE FULL SAFARI ITINERARY

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National park

After a nice breakfast in the morning, drive to Kibale National Park from Kampala going through Mityana, Mubende, Fort-portal and finally to the park. You will arrive in the early afternoon hours. Kibale National Park encloses one of the prettiest and most wide-ranging areas of tropical woodland in Uganda. Forest cover, intermingled with spots of Savannah and wetland, controls the northern and central portions of the park on a highland. The park is habitat to a total of 70 species of mammals, most notably 13 types of primate together with the chimpanzees. The park is found in Kabarole and Kamwenge districts, about 320 kilometers  by road from Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.Overnight at Kibale Primates Lodge, Chimps Nest, Crater Safari Lodge or Mountains of the Moon Hotel in Fort-portal (Full Board)

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in the Morning, Bigodi Swamp Walk in the Afternoon/Evening.

Enjoy breakfast and go for a briefing at the park offices at Kanyanchu Visitor Center. Chimpanzee excursions usually begin at 8:00 am, so you have to be at the briefing point before this time. During the trek in jungle looking out for chimps, chances are that you will advantageously see more primate species like the red-tailed monkeys and colobus monkeys among the many. This forest hike will offer you an opportunity to spot birds plus insects including butterflies as you tread on the forest paths. After an amazing tracking, get back to your accommodation for lunch that would later be followed nature walk in Bigodi swamp.

Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is a perfect spot for watching birds and insects plus appreciating nature at its best. Bigodi is well-known for an affluence of biological diversity like primates such as the black and white L’Hoest monkeys, vervet monkey, the red colobus monkeys, grey cheeked, red tailed monkey, colobus monkey, blue monkey, mangabey and the baboons among others. Other primate species such as the mongooses and chimps also come to the swamp from Kibale forest. Other mammals include bush pigs, bush bucks, sitatungas and many more. The wetland is also an amusement spot for birders as it has 138 species of birds including the famous great blue turaco and many others. In the evening, get back to the lodge for overnight and dinner.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Wake up late, have breakfast, and later check out at your own pace and start driving to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will go through Kasese before arriving at the park in afternoon. Good sightings, amazing nature along the way. Overnight and dinner at Ihamba Lakeside Safari Lodge, Enganzi Lodge, Mweya Safari Lodge or Kyambura Game Lodge or Katara Lodge (Full Board)

Day 4: Game Drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kazinga Channel afternoon Boat Cruise.

Take an early morning breakfast followed by a breathtaking Uganda wildlife game safari in the park. For a definitive African trip experience, the tracks via Kasenyi in the north of Kazinga Plains offer fundamentally assured sighting of antelopes, buffaloes, elephants and warthogs and baboons among others. Chances of spotting cats like lions and leopards are also very high as they are seen when they are awake to hunt. Seeing cats is the biggest pride of the game safari in the park.

You will spend the afternoon/evening on Kazinga Channel enjoying a boat cruise as you spot several animal and bird species slightly into the waters and along the shorelines. The boat rides usually start from the Mweya Peninsula near Mweya Safari Lodge. During the calm cruise, expect to see hippopotamuses wallowing in the shallow water plus elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and many more that come to take water from the channel. after this wonderful 2-3 hours’ cruise, return to the lodge for overnight stay at  Ihamba Lakeside Safari Lodge, Enganzi Lodge, Mweya Safari Lodge or Kyambura Game Lodge or Katara Lodge (Full Board)

Day 5: Wake up late, Have Breakfast and Drive back to Kampala.

Enjoy your late breakfast and then drive back to Kampala. Stop in Mbarara town for lunch, make another stop at the Uganda Equator for a brief relaxation and photographing at the point the marks the boundary between the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. You will be in Kampala in the evening and the driver will drop you to your preferred booked Hotel/Lodge. End of Chimp and Wildlife Safari.
