Detailed Itinerary for Lowland Gorilla Tours

Day 1: Drive from Kigali to Bukavu – Congo

Our safari guide will pick you from the hotel in Kigali after your morning breakfast to transfer to Cyangungu, Southwards of Rwanda. The journey takes you through the supernatural landscapes of southern Rwanda making a stop in Nyanza to visit the Kings Royal Palace for a broad cultural touch. Make another stop in Butare town for lunch and to sight-see the National Museum of Rwanda widely known to be one of the largest Museums in East Africa for more historical heritage experience. Continue the drive up to Cyangungu and cross the border to Bukavu in Congo for your Dinner and overnight stay at Horizon Hotel/Orchid Safari Lodge.

Day 2: Lowland Gorilla Safaris in Kahuzi – Biega National Park in DR Congo

After breakfast at the hotel or lodge, you will start this wonderful tracking of Eastern  Lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park.  The low land gorilla trek is very interesting as it offers an opportunity to see the sights of these species that are different from the common Mountain gorillas. The low land gorillas are curiously larger in size and they live in bigger groups. Trekking to these species takes roughly 1 to 4 hours. Following the gorilla trek, a nature walk in the Park to see the Tshibati Falls with gorgeous decor or sightseeing Bukavu town and the Mbayo tea estates. After the trekking, you will driver back to the hotel/lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Horizon hotel, Orchid safari lodge.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali

After breakfast, embark on the transfer back to Kigali – Rwanda to mark the end of the tour.
