Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International
The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International is a charity for the conservation of the endangered mountain gorillas. The Digit Fund was created by Dr. Dian Fossey in 1978 for the single drive of financing her anti-poaching patrols and preventing further plundering of the mountain gorillas.
The Fossey Gorilla Fund is devoted to the conservation, protection and study of gorillas and their gorilla habitations in Africa. The organisation’s effective, collective approach includes close partnership with local governments and societies as well as allies from around the globe.
In September 1967, Dr. Dian Fossey started the Karisoke Research Center in Rwanda’s Virunga mountains and set in motion one of the longest-running studies of any animal species anywhere in the world. Her emphasis, daring and desire have motivated many environmentalists who have followed subsequently. And her heritage lives on today, in the gorilla safeguard, science, education and people plans of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
The Fund Leadership
The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund staff comprise of different groups of people committed to the endurance of gorillas and their homes. The organization has groups in Atlanta as well as on the ground in Rwanda and Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The core mission of the organization in its over 55 years of successful conservation work is to save gorillas through a holistic approach founded on four key pillars:-
