Bwindi  Forest was established in 1942 and in 1992, it was named Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The park was recognized as a world Heritage site in 1994. The word Bwindi means Impenetrable in the local Rukiga language spoken by people around. Bwindi forest covers 327 km2 of thick vegetation which justifies the term ‘Impenetrable’ on its names. The forest decorated a landscape of the sharp, puffed-up ridges plus slippery valleys and hills.  The terrain of Bwindi may be hard for a trekkers, but the challenge is what makes an African tour enjoyable and memorable. The park has a huge population of Mountain Gorillas with almost half the number of the world’s numbers.

Bwindi is famous for its morning and night coldness. The coolest periods are regularly June and July, since the average temperature is roughly 70c-200c. Do not forget to carry warm garments when packing your safari gears as the forest is always cold.
