Tourist Attractions in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
There are several tourist attractions in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park including mountain gorillas. Others include golden monkeys, Mount Muhabura and Gahinga plus Garama Pigmy Cave. The forest setup of the park is amazing as it excellently facilitate nature and forest walks. Gorilla Trekking is the major tourist activity in the park.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is found in southwestern Uganda near the border of Rwanda and Congo. Occupying a geographical area of roughly 33.7 square kilometers, the park is a home for the endangered gorillas and golden monkeys among the primates family. The park is one of the four attractions where the gorillas are found in East and Central Africa. These include Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in the eastern DR Congo. The said primates are only found in these parks and nowhere else in the world. Nyakagezi Gorilla Family is the only habituated Gorilla Group in Mgahinga and available for trekking by tourists.
One of the unique secret why gorilla tracking in Mgahinga is exceptional, is because the park has a thick tropical rain forest. The jungle has many tree species and a wonderful plant life that the vegeratiran gorillas love most. Due to plenty of what to eat, it is the reason some of them migrate from Rwanda and Congo to Mgahinga.
