Full Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Wake up early, have breakfast and wait for your driver guide to pick you up from the hotel. At around 7:00 am, you will leave for Queen Elizabeth National Park by taking a direction to western Uganda via Mbarara town. Queen Elizabeth National Park is among the major tourist attractions in western Uganda. You will make a stop at the Uganda Equator, take photos from it, visit the craft shops at the site and continue with the journey. Make another stop in Mbarara town for lunch and a little relaxation. Then after continue to the park where you will arrive in the late afternoon hours or evening. Overnight stay at Enganzi Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge on full board.
Day 2: Take a Morning Game Drive and evening Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
On this day, you will wake up early enough, take some coffee and snacks and leave for a morning game drive. Expect to see the big cats (lions, leopards), elephants, hippos, spotted hyenas, bush bucks, stripped jackals, water bucks and warthogs plus many others. After a game drive, return to the lodge for a heavy breakfast followed by relaxation.
In the afternoon after lunch, transfer to Kazinga Channel pier on Mweya Peninsula for a soothing boat cruise. The 40 km water channel is found in Queen Elizabeth National Park and it connects Lake Edward to George. During the cruise, expect to see a variety of animals that visit the channel shorelines to quench their thirsts. You will hippos rest in the shallow water as herds of elephants, buffaloes plus birds are seen enjoying along Kazinga Channel shores. The 2 hour voyage on a modern storied boat is a highlight of this Uganda safari. The guides on the boat are knowledgeable enough to explain to you everything you see or you happen to ask them. During the cruise, hold your camera carefully tight as take moments from the water ride. Birds, animals and beautiful scenery are amazing. Retire in the evening to the lodge. After the cruise, return to the Mweya or Enganzi Lodge for overnight,
Day 3: Kyambura Chimps Trekking, Maramagambo Forest Walk and transfer to Ishasha Sector
Wake up early, take a heavy breakfast to gather enough for trekking chimpanzees in Kyambura Gorge. You will get briefing at park offices followed by the commencement of the trek in the jungle. Kyambura chimp trekking takes between 2 to 4 hours depending on the conditions of the day and how fast the trekkers are. With only your chimp trekking permit, expect to see a variety of chimps, monkeys as well as birds and tree plant species. Return to the lodge for some snack and relaxation.
After lunch, you will transfer to Maramagambo forest for an amazing nature walk around the forest. You will visit the bat cave in this thick forest. Expect to see bats, birds and amazing tree species among others. The nature walk may last about 2 hours. After the nature walk, drive further to Ishasha Sector and stay overnight near this region. Overnight at Ishasha Jungle Lodge or Ishasha Wilderness Lodge on full board.
Day 4: Game Drive through the Ishasha Sector Plains looking for Tree-Climbing Lions
In the morning, take breakfast and start a game drive in the huge Ishasha sector, prominent for tree-climbing lions. The sector is remarkably renowned for the dweller tree-climbing lions which are a unique highlight of the tours in Queen Elizabeth National Park. As you game drive, look out for lions hanging quietly on big fig trees branches. Move closer to the tree for such astonishing instants during this Uganda safari adventure. Overnight at Ishasha Jungle Lodge or Ishasha Wilderness Lodge on full board.
Day 5: Game Drive and Transfer back to Kampala
Have breakfast and check out of the lodge and take another game drive as you leave the park for Kampala. Enjoy more sightings of animals in the park. After the game drive, drive out of the park to continue to Kampala. Make a lunch stop at Mbarara town before you proceed to Kampala. Arrive in the city in the evening. The drive will transfer you to you hotel or the airport for an evening flight if any. The marks the end of the Uganda Safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
