7 Days Chimp and Gorilla Safari Uganda
The Chimp and Gorilla Safari Uganda includes Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest plus Wildlife Safaris in Lake Mburo National Park.
Take a Trip to Kibale Forest National Park for Chimpanzee tracking followed by gorilla watching in Bwindi forest and end with an exciting game drive and boat cruise on Lake Mburo National Park. The five-day tour is worth a visit to Uganda.
Day 1: Drive to Kibale Chimpanzee National Park for Tours
The drive to Kibale takes you through plantations and homesteads to reach Fort Portal town, Kabarole district which lies amidst the great mountains of the moon. You will reach in the afternoon and go track chimpanzees. Dinner and overnight at Kibale Primates Lodge or Crater Safari Lodge on full board.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Nature Walk
Take breakfast and then transfer to the forest for chimpanzee tracking adventure. In the afternoon after lunch, you will go for a nature walk in Bigodi Wetland swamp near the park. Overnight at Kibale Primates Lodge or Crater Safari Lodge on full board.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, take an evening Boat Cruise.
Have breakfast and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of the best Uganda safari destinations. Arrive late morning or early afternoon and check in at the lodge. After lunch, transfer to Mweya peninsula from where you will take a 2-hour boat cruise. Expect to see lots of animals and birds especially at the water shorelines.
Day 4: Game drive and then transfer to Bwindi Forest
Take an early morning game drive and thenafter leave for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home to Mountain gorillas in Uganda. Arrive in the afternoon in Buhoma northern sector of Bwindi. Bwindi impenetrable forest which is popular for its gorilla safari activities although it harbours others animals. The park has a recorded 300 bird species. Arrive in the evening. Overnight and meals at Mahogany Springs or Buhoma Community Bandas or Silverback Lodge on full board.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Safari Tours in Bwindi Forest
Take a break and go to the park headquarters for briefing before moving to the forest for gorilla tracking. The guide will give wider information about the gorillas before you set off for the tracking exercise. The time you will take tracking these humble apes in unpredictable however, it may range between 2-9 hours depending on their movements. The activity requires you to go through steep rocks climbing up and down making it tiresome however; meeting these giant primates is one of the happiest moments for you during the tour. Dinner and overnight at Mahogany Springs or Buhoma Community Bandas or Silverback Lodge on full board.
Day 6: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Set off for Lake Mburo National Park in the morning after breakfast. One of the smallest Savannah parks in the country with plenty of antelopes especially the impala, a specie named to Uganda Capital City, Kampala (in early days, a lot of Impalas were the major inhabitants of Kampala Hills). Have a stop in Mbarara town for lunch and continue your journey to Lake Mburo where you arrive in the late afternoon. You will go for an evening canoe ride on Lake Mburo to see animals and plenty of birds along the shores. Dinner and overnight at Rwonyo Camp or Mantana tented Camp.
Day 7: Game Drive and Continue to Kampala, stop by the Uganda Equator En Route
In the morning, go for game drive in the park. You will retire for late breakfast at the park and then set off for Kampala. Stop briefly at the Uganda Equator (Kayabwe) and Mpambire in Mpigi for traditional handicraft and musical instruments’ shopping. Arrive in Kampala in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in one of Kampala hotels as per your booking. The Uganda Chimps and Gorilla Safari ends.
